The shielding gas protects the laser welding machine's focusing lens from metal vapour contamination and spattering from liquid droplets, especially at high power welding when the ejecta becomes very powerful and it is even more necessary to protect the lens.


Reason 2: The shielding gas is effective in dispersing the plasma shielding produced by high power laser welding

The metal vapour absorbs the laser beam and ionises into a plasma cloud. The shielding gas surrounding the metal vapour also ionises due to the heat. If too much plasma is present, the laser beam is consumed by the plasma to some extent. The presence of the plasma as a second energy on the working surface makes the depth of melt shallower and the surface of the weld pool wider. The rate of electron complexation is increased by increasing the number of electron-ion and neutral-atom three-body collisions to reduce the electron density in the plasma. The lighter the neutral atoms, the higher the collision frequency and the higher the compounding rate; on the other hand, only a shielding gas with high ionisation energy will not increase the electron density due to the ionisation of the gas itself.


Reason 3: The shielding gas protects the workpiece from oxidation during the welding process

Laser welding machines must use a gas for protection, and the program should be set up in such a way that the shielding gas comes out first and then the laser, to prevent oxidation of the pulsed laser during continuous processing. Inert gases protect the molten pool and can be disregarded when welding certain materials regardless of surface oxidation, but for most applications helium, argon and nitrogen are often used to protect the workpiece from oxidation during the welding process.


The laser welding machine operation guide

 

Firstly, preparatory work

1, check the laser welding machine power laser welding machine structure, the water cycle is normal.

3, check the surface of the machine without dust, spots, oil, etc.

 

Secondly, turn on the machine

1, power on, open the main power switch.

2, open the water cooler, laser generator, etc. in order.

3, open the argon valve, adjust the gas flow.

4, enter the current work parameters to be performed

Thirdly, shut down the machine 

1、Exit the program and close the laser generator.

2, in order to close the dust machine, water cooler and other equipment.

3、Close the valve of the argon gas bottle.

4、Close the main power switch

 

Fourthly, attention

1、In the process of operating the laser welding machine, if you encounter an emergency (water leakage, abnormal sound of the laser, etc.) you need to immediately press the emergency stop and quickly cut off the power supply.  

2, must be opened before the operation of the laser welding external circulation water switch.

3, because the laser system uses water cooling method, the laser power supply using wind cooling method, if the cooling system failure, strictly prohibited to turn on the work. 

4、No dismantling of any parts of the machine, no welding when the safety door is open, no looking directly at the laser or reflecting the laser with your eyes when the laser is working, and no looking directly at the laser welding head to avoid eye injury.

5. Do not place flammable or explosive materials on the laser light path or where the laser beam can be irradiated to avoid fire and explosion.

6、When the machine is working, the circuit is in a high voltage and strong current state, it is strictly forbidden to touch the circuit components in the machine while working.


Precautions for the use of laser equipment

 

Good earthing: Our laser equipment is equipped with automatic safety protection and can only work properly if it is correctly and well earthed. To protect your personal safety, it is strongly recommended that the customer provides good earthing conditions for the equipment. The laser power supply and the welding control system are all digitally controlled using industrial microprocessors and only good grounding is required to ensure proper, stable operation.

 

Smaller voltage fluctuations: If the power supply access point of the equipment or very close to the high-powered power supply equipment, especially power equipment with a large impact on the power grid, such as high-powered motors, argon arc welding machines, EDM machines, etc.. It is recommended that the customer is equipped with a voltage regulator with a voltage fluctuation suppression function.

 

Ambient temperature: 4 degrees Celsius - 32 degrees Celsius. When the equipment is running, the ambient temperature should not exceed 32 degrees Celsius, because the laser power supply part, the power is very high, some power devices need to use up the heat, and the ambient temperature is too high will lead to normal heat dissipation, will lead to the whole system work unstable, or even damage. And in winter, the cooling water needs to be strictly prevented from freezing, because the laser crystal, xenon lamp and spotlight cavity are filled with water and freezing will directly lead to damage to these devices. In winter, for example, the cavity is emptied when not in operation for a long time. Before turning the machine on again, for example, fill it with water, turn on the power air switch, firstly the main machine is not turned on, only the water machine is empty for 10 minutes so that the water temperature returns to above 4 degrees Celsius and then the main machine is turned on. (It is strongly urged not to place the equipment outside or for low temperature icing, otherwise it is easy to damage the equipment)
